11A Idea Napkin #1

Oct 3, 2019

1)    You

My name is Carly Black currently 20 years old and a full-time student at the University of Florida studying Business Management. I am very dedicated, hardworking, passionate in school and my work. I have done a variety of work ranging from teaching kids at camps to restaurant and interning managing a hair salon. I see the business concept that I chose isn’t something I’d make a full-time job I believe it’s in the opportunity and the laws should change to make America safer from the danger of vaping.

2)    What are you offering to customers?

Over the past couple of years vape use has increased dramatically especially in teens. I am offering that all states should increase all tobacco use to the age of 21. New York and Michigan have already prepared to ban vapes, and I believe that will only increase the black market. The unmet need is teens who are vaping have increased 20% and is causing cardiovascular diseases we already know how bad smoking is for your body so raising the age to 21 will eliminate smoking in young teens.

3)    Who are you offering it to?

I am offering idea to America everyone who knows someone who is addicted to smoking and knows that vaping isn’t much better than smoking cigarettes.

4)    Why do they care?

I believe people care because lately there have been reports of young adults getting extremely sick and the fact is, we don’t know the long-term effects of vaping. Vaping hasn’t been around long, but it is already affecting people. Raising the age will make it very difficult for teens to smoke them and hopefully decrease vape use.

5)    What are your core competencies?’

I believe that this is very important step in furthering America, states are already banning vapes however that is ineffective because people will get them on the black market therefore, they can’t be regulated possible being more dangerous. Raising the age will make sure the product is still regulated and 21should just be the legal age for drugs.

  1. Hi Carly! I have mentioned before my concerns on how you may get rid of flavored vapes, as you mentioned regulatory changes. Legal concerns are different from business concepts, after all. Again, you expressed how you wish to increase the legal age to the age of 21 for tobacco and, presumably vapes; however, I’m concerned that even in the case where you could achieve regulatory changes, that would not discourage young teens from vaping anyway. There’s underage drinking. The same goes for smoking and vaping.
