Recently I have been exposed to entrepreneurship first hand and it has been very inspiring to see the motivation and hard work that goes in it. My parents about six months ago decided that they wanted to open up their own business so eventually my mom could leave the corporate world. They talk to a lot of different businesses and decided to open up two Supercuts and turn them into franchises. During this journey I was able to help them first hand clean up the salons, implement new policy and trying to make it an improved salon. This past weekend my mom and I went to a Supercuts convention in Minnesota and was able to learn more about behind the scenes of businesses and get inspired by other entrepreneurs. John Paul was a guest speaker and he was so inspiring hearing him selling his huge company Patron and living in his car to startup a hair line called Paul Michelle and becoming successful from it.
I decided to take this class because I feel like in studying business you have to get inspired. Entrepreneurship is inspiring and motivating to be creative and never be scared to do what you want to do. I excited to take out of this class what are smart business moves and knowing the right time to succeed in opening a business.

Hey Carly! I think your entrepreneurship is great and am really glad it is going so well and your mom was able to leave the corporate world. I also think it is fantastic how you have also put in your part in helping your family business grow. There is a lot of money in salons, I think it is great how you and your family have made the business thrive in such a short amount of time, however, maybe since you guys are so good instead of a franchise perhaps a new company would have worked out better. Keep up the great work and I wish you the best in your future with Supercuts.
ReplyDeleteHey Carly, I found your entrepreneurship story very interesting. I think its one thing to start a business but being able to franchise them is a huge step forward. I think your story helps to inspire the idea of breaking out of the corporate world and pursuing a dream as your own boss. In addition, being able to learn more about the company with your mom is a huge benefit as well.
ReplyDeleteCarly,
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool that you've gotten to see so much of the startup side of entrepreneurship. I didn't know that a Supercuts convention was even a thing, it sounds super fun though. I agree with your thought that you have to be inspired by something to study business. For me at least, this class has helped me to see the world a little differently and makes me more excited about business. It will be exciting to see how your parents business grows in the future or if this leads to more opportunities down the line.
Carly,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your parents are going through an amazing experience. I've always been curious about what goes on behind the scene when opening up a franchise store. By observing their experience and helping them through it, I believe you will pick up on many important skills and lessons. This class will also be very helpful and will teach you how to craft more business ideas.
