The opportunity I will be discussing is banning flavored vapes. This is a major problem affecting teens who have never been addicted to nicotine and are consuming it now.
Who:
During my interview I talked to people who smoke cigarettes, non-vape smokes who work at gas station and a parent of a teen who smokes vapes. From the interview I realized from the cigarette smoker flavored vapes are a great alternative and it does help to stop smoking cigarettes. People who are selling vapes said they aren’t going to be affected saying they knew it was going to be a phase. The parent who said her high schooler smokes vapes is for the stop of flavored vapes saying they have taken over school and “it’s the cool thing to do”.
What:
Making flavored vapes illegal will stop the huge raise in teen smoking flavored vapes. Banning vapes will for sure decrease consumption.
Why:
There need is different because they are trying to help the younger generation and by banning flavored vapes it will be a right step for America. Expect for a
cigarette’s smoker believe that flavored vapes serve as an alternative however they could be just as bad since we don’t know the long term affects.

Not banning vapes
 |
Why the Need Exists: the need exist because consumption is increasing, and people are getting sick.

Hi Carly! I appreciate your efforts in addressing the extremely negative health effects of flavored vaping. I do wonder how you plan on executing such an action as banning flavored vapes, as it seems more like a regulatory change than a business opportunity. You mentioned in a previous post that you may introduce a new, more accessible line of gum that helps people quit smoking; however, I wonder how you will tap into the market of young adults and teens (one of the biggest markets for vaping) when most of those individuals have no desire to quit vaping.
ReplyDeleteHey Carly! It really caught my attention how you got such a great information from your interviews, I did not think electronic cigarettes were a better alternative than actual cigarettes. This reason why is because I have many friends that smoke cigarettes and they deeply dislike vapes, however, I agree on how this could be true with younger high school students. The only problem I could see with this opportunity is with the amount of backlash vapes are getting right now because of all the cases that have risen due to smoking them might pose a problem when trying to launch this idea.
